New Miracle Drug for Parvo Comes at a Cost

In the past, Parvo (Canine Parvovirus) was almost always fatal in puppies, and it's a brutal death. There's good news, though. We can now save Parvo-positive puppies with a new drug that's over 90% effective! But we need your help.
In the last year, Parvo cases have exploded across the Four Corners area reservations we serve at Underdog Rescue. One animal clinic in Arizona reported a 250% increase in cases this spring, compared to the same time period last year. Extreme flooding has combined with vaccine hesitancy to dramatically increase the spread of this terrible disease. And we're seeing these puppies at our monthly clinics on the reservations.
The new miracle drug that's 90% or more effective in treating Parvo in puppies is called Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibodies (CPMA). We've been using it at the Ranch since its provisional approval by the FDA in 2023 and it's truly a game-changer. In the time we've been using it on surrendered puppies, we've only (sadly) lost one!
In the past several months, we've also begun using it at our monthly clinics on the reservations, for sick puppies brought in by their owners.
The problem is that it's VERY expensive: $231 per vial. One vial treats one small puppy (up to 11 pounds), or offers two small puppies post-exposure protection. Treatment is a one-time IV dose. For bigger puppies, we must use multiple vials of this life-saving treatment.
At our April Underdog clinic, we used all of the CPMA we brought (9 vials at $231 each, or $2,079 total). At our May clinic, we treated 1 small and 3 larger puppies for Parvo, using 7 vials of CPMA ($1,617).
This monoclonal antibody treatment really is a miracle drug, and it has the price tag to go with it. Can you sponsor one or more vials of this life-saving medication?
Our goal is to be able to buy enough to cover our expected needs of up to 2 boxes of CPMA for each remaining clinic in 2026 (14 boxes), and to cover our anticipated needs at the Ranch for any surrendered Parvo-positive puppies (7 boxes). To buy 21 boxes at $1386 / box, we need to raise $29,106.
Please help us save these puppies from a painful death! Parvo is on the rise in the Four Corners reservations we serve and accept surrenders from. We need this expensive, miracle drug both at the Ranch for surrenders and at our monthly clinics for sick pets whose parents often don't have access to other veterinary services.
